  • Combine two legendary trekking experiences: the panoramic viewpoint of Poon Hill and the breathtaking Annapurna Base Camp—on a single, unforgettable journey from Pokhara

Trek Overview

The Poon Hill Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of Nepal’s most spectacular trekking adventures, offering a perfect combination of breathtaking Himalayan landscapes, cultural immersion, and comfortable lodge stays. Designed by Mountain Eco Treks, this trek leads you through lush rhododendron forests, terraced farmland, and traditional Gurung and Magar villages, providing a true Himalayan experience that blends nature, adventure, and culture.
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, a picturesque lakeside city nestled beneath the Annapurna and Machhapuchare (Fishtail) peaks. Pokhara’s tranquil lakes, rolling hills, and mountain views set the perfect backdrop for your trek. From Pokhara, the trail passes through charming hill villages like Ulleri and Ghorepani, winding along traditional stone paths, green terraces, and pine-forest trails.
A pre-dawn hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m) is one of the trek’s highlights. From this viewpoint, trekkers are treated to a panoramic sunrise over the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung, and Manaslu ranges, with the first golden rays illuminating the majestic Himalayan peaks — an experience that lingers in memory forever. The surrounding hills burst into colors in spring and summer when rhododendrons, wildflowers, and lush vegetation are in full bloom, creating a magical trail for nature lovers.
For those seeking the ultimate Himalayan adventure, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek 11 Days package takes you deeper into the Annapurna Sanctuary, culminating at Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m). This trek is ideal for trekkers who want to focus on the high alpine experience, marvel at snow-capped peaks up close, and enjoy the grandeur of the Sanctuary, without including Poon Hill. Gradual altitude gain and well-equipped lodges along the trail make it accessible for both beginners and experienced trekkers.
For travelers with limited time or looking for a shorter journey, the Poon Hill Ghorepani Short Trek 7 Days offers the essence of the Annapurna region in a compact itinerary. It highlights the sunrise panorama at Poon Hill, scenic traditional villages, and lush rhododendron and oak forests, providing a fulfilling trekking experience without the longer high-altitude push to the base camp.
Both trekking options provide opportunities to explore local villages, interact with friendly Himalayan communities, and witness traditional farming life. On the return journey, trekkers often visit Jhinu Danda, where relaxing natural hot springs offer the perfect post-trek refreshment, before continuing through Landruk and Dhampus to arrive back in Pokhara. Your trek concludes beside the serene waters of Phewa Lake, leaving you with memorable experiences of Nepal’s natural beauty, vibrant culture, and Himalayan adventure.

Trek to Annapurna base camp with

1st February, 2019

Namaste,
Great experience in February 2018, framed by Dev (our guide) & Hikmat (our porter). 10 days of hiking in good conviviality and exchange but also very attentive when certain passages become delicate. Really fantastic. Dev has concocted a special trek for us as ABC was closed because of the amount of snow there. He knows everyone, his laughter and his good mood open all doors. You feel safe and you quickly become friends. I can only advise him. For me, it's sure the next trek will not happen without him and his son.
Leave in total confidence, you will not be disappointed.
Thank you so much Dev & Hikmat for this adventure,
Valentine

Annapurna Base Camp Trek

19th December, 2022

My 2 friends and I traveled to Nepal for a month and decided to do the Annapurna Base Camp with Dev Lama (our guide). Our 9-day hike was perfectly planned and executed. We had lots of great conversations with Dev and enjoyed our time together. I highly recommend this agency and will definitely contact Dev again if I come back to Nepal.
Thanks Dev!

Unforgettable trip in the world of mountains!

1st September, 2018

In the end of September 2018 we (a group of 3 young women) decided to take the opportunity being in Nepal to do a trip to the Annapurna Basecamp in the heart of the Himalaya.
Well, what shall I say - it became one of the best things i've ever experienced in all my life. Not only that the nature is so stunningly beautiful and the atmosphere in the mountains itself is wonderful - but also that we had Dev as our guide made this week of trekking an immense gift to us. I can only highly recommend Dev! If you want, he explains everything about the Napli culture to you, he is always very polite and ready to help you.
thank you so much Dev for this wonderful week!

Enjoying magnificent Annapurna Base camp trek!

1st September, 2018

We decided after a recommendation to do our first trekking in the Himalayas with Mountain Eco Treks & Expeditions. Dev was helping us with every kind of question planning therefore we got exactly what we were looking for: a unique experience in the Himalayas during a very nice organized trek.
Moreover, Dev was engaged concerning everything - organizing the lodges, TIMS-card, our well-being, and for moving safely in the Mountain too. His kind and funny character made the Himalayan experience even more pleasant for us - Additionally, our time with Dev allowed us to get to know more about people, culture, rituals, and flora, especially in the Mountain regions. Therefore I can definitely recommend Mountain Eco Treks & Expedition and I am looking forward to my next Trek in Nepal with Dev and his trekking agency.

Annapurna Base Camp - wonderful!

18th November, 2018

My friends and I travelled to the Annapurna Base camp (I didn’t quite make it due to the altitude) and we had a wonderful time with Dev, his son and our porter Bijaya! I highly recommend Dev he created a really lovely atmosphere, we felt like we were with family, and we felt very comfortable and safe throughout the trek. Not to mention that during our trek the weather got quite scary as we got closer to ABC to the point where there was a snow storm and 8 people got caught two avalanches. Dev ended up saving these 8 people while also ensuring that we were safe! A very big thanks to Dev and his team!

Unforgettable experience!!

28th September, 2019

Traveling with Dev and his small team was like walking with friends. He is incredibly attentive and generous with his time and effort, and other hikers remarked how family-oriented our group felt. We felt safe the whole way, despite some adverse weather conditions. Sometimes in life, you get very lucky, and with Dev and his team, this was one of those moments. Highly recommended.

  • A moderate and rewarding trek suitable for all levels: offering the beauty of the Himalayas without the challenges of extreme altitude.
